Flat ground in Northwest Ohio does not drain itself. Grading is how water gets sent away from a house, a barn or a building pad instead of sitting against it — and it is the difference between a slab that lasts and one that heaves.

Grading and Site Work We Do
- Building pad prep: stripping topsoil, cutting to grade, and building up a compacted pad ready for footers or slab.
- Rough grading for new construction and finish grading before seed or sod.
- Drainage correction — reshaping low spots, cutting swales, and tying in tile or catch basins so water has somewhere to go.
- Gravel driveways, farm lanes and parking areas: base stone placed, graded and compacted, with crown enough to shed water.
- Regrading around foundations where settled soil has started pitching water back toward the building.
How We Approach a Grading Job
- We start by finding where the water actually goes today, not where it is supposed to go. That usually means walking the property and looking at the low points, the outlets and the neighboring grade.
- Then we cut and fill to a grade that sends water to a real outlet, compact it so it stays put, and leave the surface ready for whatever comes next — stone, seed or concrete.

Common Questions
Can grading fix water standing in my yard?
Usually, yes — if there is somewhere for the water to go. We look at the outlet first. If there is no outlet, the fix involves tile, a catch basin or a swale rather than just moving dirt around.
Do you regrade gravel driveways?
Yes. We regrade and recrown existing gravel drives and add stone where it has disappeared into the subgrade.
