Excavating is where most of our projects start. Before a slab gets poured, a building goes up, or water stops standing in the wrong place, somebody has to move dirt correctly — and that is the part of the job we have been doing across Northwest Ohio for 25 years.

Excavation Work We Perform
- Basement and footer digs for new construction and additions, cut to the dimensions and depth the plans call for.
- Pond excavation and reshaping — digging the basin, shaping banks that hold, and spreading or hauling off the spoil.
- Drainage excavation: catch basins, tile lines, swales and outlets for property that holds water after a heavy rain.
- Utility trenching for water, sewer, electric and gas runs, backfilled and compacted so the ground does not settle later.
- Demolition and removal of old slabs, foundations, pads and outbuildings, including haul-off.
How the Job Runs
- We walk the site with you first. Access, soil, existing utilities and where the spoil goes all change the price, so we would rather see it than guess at it.
- Utilities get located before a bucket goes in the ground. From there we dig to grade, check it, and backfill in lifts rather than dumping it all back in at once.
- When we pull out, the site is graded and raked, tracks are filled, and anything we tore up that was not part of the job gets put back.
What to Expect on Cost and Schedule
- Most residential digs are quoted as a complete number rather than an open hourly meter, so you know the figure before we start.
- Ohio weather drives the calendar. Saturated ground turns a one-day dig into a mess, so we will move a start date rather than tear up a wet site.

Common Questions
Do you locate utilities before digging?
Yes. Public utilities are located before any excavation starts, and we ask owners about private lines — irrigation, invisible fence, septic and propane runs are the ones that surprise people.
What happens to the dirt you dig out?
It depends on the job. Clean spoil is often spread or used to build up a low area on the same property, which saves hauling cost. If there is nowhere to put it, we haul it off and include that in the quote.
